Filterless Air Purifier

 

 

There is a device that purifies the air, it is called an air purifier. It is also known as an air cleaner because of its function. It works effectively against air pollution. An air purifier that does not have any filter, is called as filterless air purifiers. It is as effective as the air purifier with filter. It catches elements that are in the air, human and pet hair, volatile chemicals, and odors, removing them from the air. Mostly, it does not use a fan. It works on different technologies.
It is divided into five major types, according to the techniques used.
1. Electrostatic
They electrically charge airborne dirt and then gather them on oppositely charged collectors. Where does the accumulated chaos go? Dust particles are drawn inside the purifier by fans. With some high voltage wires, these particles are later charged, which later get attracted for electrically charged electrostatic metal plates. A byproduct is produced by ozone. These collectors must be cleaned regularly. Otherwise they begin to let dirty. As time passes, by the cigarette smoking or grease frying, the collector plates build up a tarnished film layer. This layer can be very difficult to remove. When this lagging builds up, electrostatic forces of attraction diminish, leading to bypass, spark, and lowered capture rates. These devices may actually have filters, or have problems, costs, and limitations. These are not mentioned in the advertisement.
2. Ionizers
They work on the basis of a technique called corona discharge, which is similar to the one, used to generate static electricity. These purifiers produce negatively charged ions in the air, which crash with the dust particles. Particles also become negatively charged after the collision and get drawn to the positively charged metal plate of the purifier, which traps the dust particles. Efficiency of ionic air purifiers is limited only to some specific particles. These air purifiers are often mistaken for ozone generators. People affliction from asthma should not use this air purifier. Ionizers using both polarities, positive and negative, to charge airborne impurities, can create an oxidation environment which surrounds water molecules in the air, wipe outing particles and inactivating microorganisms. These microorganisms are called “plasmaclusters”. This is typically incorporated as an add on to HEPA filtered machines.
3. Photocatalytic Oxidation: “PCO”
The photocatalytic air purifiers have no filter or fans in it. They are similar to a single coated fluorescent light bulb. In this air purifier, especially lilac light cause metal semiconductors to produce oxidants. The molecular bonds are broken by these oxidants, that exist in the micro-organisms. These oxidants remove even tiny dust particles, chemicals, and odors present in the air. These filters are also called as UV air filters.

4. Ozone Generator
The ionizers in the air filter produce both positively and negatively charged ozone ions within an acceptable level for humans. It wipes out elements and inactivates the bacteria by a natural chemical process with the strong oxidizing agent like ozone produced. Particles are including bacteria, viruses, mold spores, fungi, cigarette particles, gases. These odors get destroyed using this technique.
5. Plasmacluster ions
These filters are based on the plasma discharge technology. These are used to split water molecules into oppositely charged hydrogen and oxygen ions. Air dirt draws these electrically charged hydrogen and oxygen ions. Plasmascluster ions are along with air toxins from hydroxyl radicals, which further result in the destruction of the toxins. It is an effective technology for destroying airborne biological, and chemical toxins.
